It was a long time ago
when the Brücklwirt was first mentioned in documents in 1737. Once run as a farm with a tavern on the road, the establishment has been family-owned for 190 years.
Formerly a small stopover for locals and travelers, the tavern has grown into one of the most beautiful hotels in Upper Styria thanks to the popularity and entrepreneurial spirit of Hermannfried and Sunnhild Friedl.
Today
Mag. Nikolaus and Johanna Walz are the sixth generation to run the **** Hotel Brücklwirt.
They work tirelessly to carry on the family legacy and extend a warm welcome to all guests. They are supported in this by Alfred and Maria Friedl, who bring a special touch to the hotel with their good taste and sense of humor.

Timeline
1737
Paul Garlinger appears as the first documented owner.
1755
The management of his son Mathias attracted the disapproval of the authorities when he organized strictly prohibited “Rummeltänze” (folk dance events).
1833
Brücklwirt comes into the ownership of the Friedl family. Development into a popular and well-known hospitality business. Accommodation for carters and travelers, including a farrier’s workshop and agriculture.
1966
The childless and elderly Amalia Friedl adopts her nephew Hermannfried Hirn and appoints him as her successor.
1970
The beginning of a major expansion phase under Hermannfried Friedl and his wife Sunnhild. The former country inn develops into the leading hotel establishment of the region.
1994
Maria and Alfred Friedl take over the business. Further development with a strong focus on service quality and the hotel’s range of offerings.
2001
Kitchen renovation with state-of-the-art technology to provide even higher quality in less time.
2002
Major renovation of the double rooms to offer guests the highest possible comfort.
2003
Complete redesign of the entrance area and reception, and construction of a hotel bar with a cozy atmosphere.
2009
Renovation and modern redesign of all single rooms.
2013
Renovation and modern redesign of the restaurant entrance and restroom facilities.
2015
Renovation and modernization of the elevator system and fire protection facilities.
2016
Renovation and modern redesign of the bathrooms in the double rooms.
2017 + 2018
Installation of new soundproof windows in the hotel rooms.
2021
Redesign of the garden terrace.
2023
